Short version

Highlighter Notebook stores everything on your own computer. It has no server, no account, and it sends nothing anywhere.

What the extension stores

When you highlight text, the extension saves the following in Chrome's own local storage on your device:

• the text you highlighted
• a short piece of the text before and after it, so the highlight can be found again
• any note you type
• the colour you chose
• the address and title of the page or PDF
• the date and time

Where it is stored

In Chrome's local extension storage on your computer. It is not uploaded, not synced to any server, and not shared with the developer or anyone else. Removing the extension deletes it.

What is not collected

• No personal details, accounts or sign-in of any kind
• No analytics, tracking or advertising
• No browsing history
• Nothing is sold or shared with third parties

Network activity

The extension makes no network requests of its own. The only exception is when you ask it to open a PDF from a web address: it then downloads that PDF from the address you chose, so it can display it. Nothing about that request is recorded or sent to the developer.
